Not a whole heck of a lot

Life is pretty unexciting here. Back to the daily grind. Blech. Missing my knitting time. And desperately wanting to read more of my current book. For today, all I've got to tell you is that I spent time last night ripping NBAT, due to, surprise, surprise - gauge issues. The pattern gauge is 19 st/in and I was in the neighborhood of 23 st/in. RIP. Will cast on again with sz 9 needles, and this time I'll swatch. Lesson learned (again).

I do have one lousy little picture for you - my stash enhancement from last week. Two skeins of Regia Cotton Surf (yum), and one of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted (yum yum) which will become the cabled footies from One Skein for my One Skein Secret Pal. I'm dying to cast on with the Regia and the only thing stopping me is that I want to use bamboo needles, and all of mine are in use. Perhaps I need to buy a new set on Thursday night at the yarn store?

Oh, and it was already muggy this morning when I went walking. I'm going to try going earlier tomorrow to avoid it. All of our grass is dead. The creek at school is dried up. How many more years do I have to live in Texas?

And for your funny bit - one of my kiddos needed help on the potty today, and when I asked what was wrong, he told me he "couldn't reach between his biscuits*" to wipe. I almost died laughing.

*By biscuits does he mean buns? Perhaps he created this word because he associated it with other bread products? Who knows, but it's hysterical.

  1. Biscuts?! That's a classic. You have to write that one down so you will remember it when it is time to embarass him when his girlfriends come over. :)

  2. Hee hee - that "biscuits" comment just cracks me up!

    Love that purple Regia Surf...

You were getting 23/st to 4 in on 8s?!

  3. our grass is pretty dead too. i'm actually glad because our mower is a piece of junk, so we won't have to know. as a fellow midwesterner, i'm down on tx summers too. UGH!!!

  4. Lol! I love the "biscuits".

And isn't that Shibuiknit Kago gorgeous?? I may have to cave n that one after all. It gets better every time I look at it. So you frogged one sweater, but are the other two still in progress? I loved the Japanese-styled one.

And how cool that you are helping out at Yarns Ewenique! Do you get a discount? Lucky you, if so ;). So I am sure to meet you soon, maybe tomorrow at knit night!

  5. Biscuits! Ha! That sounds so Texas. Or Southern, anyway. In the cutest possible way. :)

Are you seriously contemplating moving? You should try NE Ohio. ;) Our winters can be a little hard, but when it's nice here, it's really really nice.

  6. Oh, come on - you've only been there 9 years! (And yes, I am catching up on my bloglines. However did you tell?)
