Modern Half-Square Triangle Quilt-a-Long Block 42

Welcome! If you are just joining us, information about materials can be found here, and here are the previous blocks: Block 1Block 2Block 3Block 4Block 5Block 6Block 7Block 8Block 9Block 10Block 11Block 12Block 13, Block 14Block 15Block 16Block 17Block 18Block 19Block 20Block 21Block 22Block 23Block 24Block 25Block 26Block 27Block 28Block 29Block 30Block 31Block 32Block 33Block 34Block 35Block 36, Block 37Block 38Block 39Block 40Block 41

Block 42

Materials:
8 3.5" squares of Color A
8 3.5" squares of Color B

*note* these are the essential materials for each block, so you can cut several blocks worth of fabric at once to save time!

Create your blocks, following the same procedure as last week. If you need help making your blocks, please see this post. You should end up with 16 2.5" squares. Ready to lay out your block? Here we go!

ROW 3

ROW 4

After you have sewn your squares into rows, press your seams. I like to press odd numbered rows to the left, and even to the right. It helps to use a small piece of paper to number your rows. I like the tiny post-it notes.

After pressing, you are ready to sew your rows together! Pin, if necessary, but I find that these short rows don't require pinning.

Block 42

Press one final time, and voila! Another finished block! Only 30 to go! Remember to add your blocks to our flickr group!

Please, if you have questions, email me at knitnlit AT gmail DOT com, or make sure you leave your email address in your comment. I've had several folks ask questions in the comments, but if you are a no-reply commenter, I can't email you back.

WIP Wednesday

I haven't been sewing much with everyone home for summer and trying to get ready for the baby, and when I am sewing it seems to be etsy orders and bags for friends and MadTosh customers! But I did get Ben's quilt top finished and made some progress on the FWMQG challenges!

Ellie's quilt top

Ben's quilt top

Progress on my negative space challenge-Jaybird Quilt's Science Fair quilt using Painters Canvas-all my blocks are made and I just need to lay everything out!

Instead of doing more work sewing this afternoon (in my defense I need to pick up more fabric!) I started my Low Volume Challenge! I'm doing log cabin blocks with cool colored solid centers.

Linking up with Lee!

I also cut all my print fabrics for my dancing triangles quilt-now to cut my white and background fabrics!

Not going to be doing much sewing next week since I'm working all week, so I'm going to try to squeeze some more in the rest of this week before this baby gets here!

Wee Zip Pouches

Ever since I got started on my kick of making zippered pouches, I had tossed around the idea of making small ones for notions and things. Last week, after not sewing all weekend while I was ill, I needed a quick and easy project. I had grabbed some cute fabric at work on Saturday, so I matched some zippers and got sewing!

I made these without a gusset. They measure about 5.5"x5 inches. They are perfect for holding my knitting notions and the thread, scissors and hexagons for my paper piecing project! And they're cute! :)
