Meet the team

For this season's Amazing Lace, Team Knit 'n Lit will be a relay team comprised of several different teammates, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Team members will have various times on the track, but each should see some action every week.

The following team members have made it through try-outs and have completed the preliminary rounds.

From left to right:
Pattern: Leaf Lace Shawl from Fibertrends
Yarn: Knitpicks Shimmer in Happy Dance
Needles: Size 4 Inox Grey's shown, but probably will go with size 4 Susan Bates for length.

Pattern: Baltic Sea Stole from Fibertrends
Yarn: Knitpicks Merino Style in Dusk
Needles: Size 5 Clover Bamboos

Bottom row:
Pattern: Cloverleaf Rib socks
Yarn: Opal sock yarn in Apple Green
Needles: Size 1 Susan Bates DPNs

Pattern: Top Secret
Yarn: Cascade Fixation
Needles: Size 6 Susan Bates

All of these team members have survived the first round, swatching, and some have done so well in trial races that they have begun the relay a bit early. In fact, member Cloverleaf Rib is nearly finished with her portion of the relay. Not to worry, some backup lacers are still in preliminary auditions.

Several sock yarns and patterns have risen to the challenge and at least one will be selected to replace Cloverleaf Rib.

Left to right:
Pattern: Waving Lace socks
Yarn: Opal sock yarn
Needles: Either size 1 Susan Bates DPNs or size 1 Inox Grey's DPNs

Pattern: Simply Lovely Lace Socks
Yarn: Fortissima Cotton
Needles: Size 1 or 2 Susan Bates DPNs or Inox Grey's.

Bottom row:
Pattern: Leaf Lace Socks (apologies for lack of picture)
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock
Needles: Size 2 Susan Bates DPNs.

Also completing trial runs are, from left to right:

Pattern: Flower Basket Shawl
Yarn: Skacel Merino Style
Needles: Size 4 or 5 Susan Bates (still in trial runs)

Pattern: Perfect Pie Shawl from Weekend Knitting
Yarn: Madli Kid Seta
Needles: Still in swatching runs.

Pattern: Ene's Scarf from Scarf Style
Yarn: Knitpicks Alpaca Cloud
Needles: Size 4 or 5 Susan Bates (also still swatching)

Bottom:
Pattern: Branching Out from Knitty.com
Yarn: Misti Alpaca laceweight
Needles: undecided

Team Knit 'n Lit does have some previous lace experience. Mom's Little Lace Scarf can be seen here, The Girl's shawl here. The team also has prior experience with Branching Out, the Leaf Lace Socks and the Leaf Lace Shawl. All of these ended badly, so the team is hoping that the second (or third or fourth) time is the charm.

Oh, and in case it all goes to hell in a handbasket? 300g of pink laceweight cashmere are waiting in the wings. Yum.

Team members not pictured include iced tea, Diet Dr. Pepper, hazelnut coffee, TiVo, L&O, CSI, and Netflix.

  1. Wow - you are setting yourself a challenge. Good luck! Go team!

Try Tetley tea as sun tea. It's the best!

  2. Great intro! Wow, you have a lot going on there. The Flower Basket Shawl is one of my potentials, but I think I'm going to do Adamas.

I don't know, that's a pretty formidable team. The other teams should probably go home.
