I cannot tell you how glad I am to have these off the needles!
Pattern: Feather and Fan
Yarn: Yarn Pirate Merino/Tencel in Malamute colorway
Needles: ChiaGoo Bamboo 2.25 mm DPNs and Susan Bates 2.25mm DPNs
Dates: February 2 - June 3
Thoughts: Hmmmmmm. I have several. I think this will be my only pair of feather and fan socks. I just didn't enjoy as much as I have read that others have. I felt like I had to pay too much attention, which isn't something I mind, but I don't feel like I got a big enough payoff for the effort. The yarn is quite interesting. The tencel makes it shiny, and makes it a tiny bit difficult to work with. I was not enjoying the bamboo needles and the somewhat sticky yarn, so I finally, on the second sock, switched to metal needes, which made a world of difference, and enabled the socks to get finished much faster. I will be interested to see how the yarn wears as well.
Maybe not a big enough payoff but they are very nice....ReplyDelete
Awww, sorry they weren't very fun to knit. They do look really pretty though!ReplyDelete
They were worth the effort...very pretty!ReplyDelete
Wow, I think those are lovely! I've never seen feather and fan socks before, but I really like the way it looks with the self-striping yarn.ReplyDelete
You know, I think socks are soooooo much easier to knit with metal needles. Personally, I don't know how anyone can knit with bamboo needles with such a tiny size.
Very pretty! Too bad the knitting process wasn't all that it could be, but you have beautiful socks now :)ReplyDelete
I'm sorry the process wasn't great, BUT the feather and fan with THAT yarn is perfect - they are beautiful socks!ReplyDelete
What sort of payback were you expecting?! I think the F&F shows off the yarn wonderfully!ReplyDelete
I think they are very pretty! I definitely understand about knits not being very enjoyable though.ReplyDelete
They look great! I have been looking for a feather and fan pattern to use with some Claudia's I got a while back. Do you think you would have liked them more if you'd had different yarn?ReplyDelete
