Hot and Cold

Hot

The unfailing kindness of (most) of the knit-blog community never ceases to amaze me. Your comments on my current projects and cheerful thoughts brighten my day. I know I don't reply to each of you individually, but know that I treasure your words and look forward to coming home each day to check my comments!

Also hot - gifts! I was the lucky "winner" of aThe Great Monday Give-away item a few weeks ago - and I got my "gift" this week.

It's a lovely vintage pink cardi in a horseshoe(?) lace pattern. It fits great and I wore to it work already once this week! Ms. Bugheart also included a darling handmade flower pin and a card that reads "I don't think he's wearing any underwear!".

I'm very excited to point you to the Summer IK preview! It looks pretty good - there are a few items I can't wait to knit up!

Cold

I don't mean to be a downer, or be perceived to be a bitch, but this really hurt my heart. I left a comment today on a blog I have read for over a year (but rarely comment on), and received this response:

If you use the search feature of my blog (on the sidebar near the top) and search for *** you will see that I've used *** many, many times in the past. So, I obviously know about ***. Please take the time to know a blogger before leaving (unsolicited) suggestions. (Identifying details have been removed).

Ouch.

Thank goodness this response is the first of it's kind I've received. Otherwise it might put me off the knit-blog world completely.

To distract you, (and to end on a high note!) a little quiz. My neighbors are strange. They leave their 500 million watt porch light on all night (it shines right into our bedroom window). One member of the family was arrested a few weeks ago (he's back). I saw this in their driveway this week. What is it?

No, I'm not going to tell who it was. Please don't guess in the comments either. Thank you for all of your positive words. Go make someone else smile for me, OK?

  1. Wow! That is kind of insanely rude of whatever blogger did that to you. Sheesh. Thank goodness (like you said) that I wasn't treated that way when I came along in the blog world. It would have really put me off.

  2. I think I know what it is! One of those HUGE gumball machines? That's such a pretty pink cardigan. You're a lucky girl!

    Her loss.

    What a bee-yatch.

I have no guess what that thing in your crazy neighbor's tree is. It looks like the red that hummingbird feeder parts are made from, though.

  4. Hey, you've been renovating!! ;-) I like the new template. Man, I'm so sorry you had such a horrible experience with whoever that blogger was. I can't believe how insanely rude she is!! WTH?! You're so sweet, and you definitely don't deserve to be treated like that by anyone. I say, to the heck with her- definitely her loss. Don't let her bring you down. On a brighter note, what a great package! I love the pink cardi- so pretty! Take care and wishing you and yours a wonderful Easter! :-)

Do your neighbors feed birds? it looks like the piece that's supposed to provide squirrel-proofing -- the feeder hangs underneath. If they're like us (no, I wasn't just arrested!), they bring the feeder inside at dusk so that they don't find a bear mauling it the next morning.

Maybe we should go easy on the rude blogger? I agree with the comments, but she could have been having a hormonally-challenged day and may regret her response now. (I'm post-menopause and my hormones have wandered off, but I haven't lost my memory yet!)

"Ouch!" is right! I don't have it in me to be so blunt but I know several bloggers out there who would/could be. :(

All I can think of is a giant gumball machine too...that's much more fun than whatever mundane thing it really is. :::Grin:::

    Lovely pink cardi!

Wait. I'm confused. I thought part of blogging was getting comments and, unless you turn off the 'leave comments' feature, those comments are 'solicited' just by writing an entry...? WTF? I mean, if you don't want 'unsolicited' comments/suggestions - don't blog in the first place.

    What a cranky-pants!

On a happier note - that cardi is v pretty :o)

  8. Being rude to someone who took time out of their day to leave you a comment . . . . and after you were nice enough to leave what I assume was a suggestion to help her out . . . is the most insane thing I've ever heard of. I hope you know there are plenty of bloggers out here who appreciate each and every comment you have left.
