Decisions, decisions

I need your help. I've been debating the pattern for my sockpal socks for several days. I thought I had settled on Sockbug's Lacy Scallop Sock (go see Margene's here - beautiful!). So I swatched it up and learned how to do a provisional cast on and (after only ripping out one time) did up me a picot edge and started the pattern. And promptly messed up twice.

Here it is just before ripping.

I'm mad that I messed it up (though to be completely honest, if it was for me, I'd just ignore it, but I can't as it's a gift!), and I've been worried that it was too "girly" of a pattern for my pal.

So now I need your help. What pattern do I use? As it's a varigated yarn, I'm worried about what will http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=10789997look good. My thoughts are:

Fancy Silk Socks from Knitting Vintage Socks

Feather and Fan Socks from Socks, Socks, Socks

Vine Lace Socks from Socks, Socks, Socks

New England from Knitting on the Road

Pomatomus from Knitty

Simply Lovely Lace Socks from Spring Interweave.

I can't get a blog poll to load, so leave your votes in the comments! If you need a refresher, here is the yarn I'm using.

Thanks for all your help!

  1. I like the design on New England.

  2. Although I like New England, I think the yarn you chose would work beautifully with Pomatomus, too. I think the variegation would really highlight the Pomatomus pattern. Any of the patterns you've chosen would look great, but my personal vote is for either New England or Pomatomus. What a lucky sock pal!! ;-) Take care, Jenn! :-)

  3. I think my two favorites are Fancy Silk Socks and New England. Can't wait to see what you pick. What pretty yarn.

  4. I think the Feather and Fan socks look great in varigated yarn. With something like the New England socks, I worry about losing the pattern in the colors.

  6. I agree with Chris that the yarn would look great as a Pomatomus. But my second choice would probably be Feather and Fan. Any of them would be an excellent pair of socks!

  7. I'd vote for the Feather and Fan. I also like Pomatomus but the F&F are so pretty in a varigated yarn so they are my first choise.(maybe because I failed my first try with Pomatomus). ;)
