Tick tock, tick tock

Call me crazy. I decided Sunday that it would be fun to knit one entire project during the time I watch "24" this spring. In 24 hours.

But what to knit? I thought about socks, but unless they're plain, they might take too much concentration, and plain is out, as I already have too many pairs of those on the needles.

I finally settled on a sweater. A stockinette sweater that may be "boring" any other time, but works perfectly for "24" knitting (doesn't distract me from helping Jack Bauer save the world).

The chosen sweater? The Hourglass Sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. Really, it's the only choice, what with the name and all.

After the two night premiere I'm into the waist shaping. Here's hoping I can knit as fast as Jack can get himself into and out of trouble.

And yet again, I'm making my sweater the same color as the one in the picture. It's a sickness really.

I know Jack is going to save the world even if he says he can't do it any more. I'm doing Ribby Cardi while I watch, nice mindless ribbing.

What a beautiful color- and a great idea to knit while watching your fav show.

From what I hear, the show is stressful, right? Which I can only imagine would inspire even faster knitting than usual. You're going to finish this waaay before Jack can finish up his day!

I rent a few episodes of 24 every weekend or so and I have trouble knitting during it. I just get so wrapped up in what is on the screen my knitting goes even more slowly than usual.

Good luck on getting your sweater done! It will be cool to say "I did this in 24 hours".

What a great idea!! I love how "Hourglass" ties into the whole theme too.

It's not just you... I often find myself wanting to do a pattern in the same colors its shown in... at least, if I like the color it's done in.

Because of that, sometimes it helps me to wait until some people have knit it and shown it off on their blogs, because then I can pick from different options that I've seen. Sometimes, though... I still just like it best in it's original color. I don't think that's bad, really.

Great idea for the "24" sweater! Do you have a photograph of what it looks like completed? I've been searching for a basic sweater pattern, as well, that I can do in off hours (I call those kinds of projects "no-cons", for "no concentration"). I'd love to see a photograph of the finished pattern!

  8. I did the hourglass for my olympic knitting and handily finished it early, so I have faith in you! If you search my blog, I noted the ways in which I modified the pattern, such as setting it up so I didn't have to sew down the hems and knitting further on the neckline - the neckline as written can be sort of off-the-shoulder. Also, grab the corrections to the pattern!

Brilliant idea. I also have easy projects at the ready specifically so I can knit while watching 24! Mindless stockinette definitely has its virtues!!

I love it!! What a fun idea!

Someone recommended the Hourglass sweater to me, so I'll be watching your progress to see if you like the end result.

Still working on the lace stole...
