Fly away with me

Pattern: Birdie from Lucinda Guy's Handknit's for Kids
Yarn: Rowan Cotton Glace
Needles: Sz US 3 Susan Bates
Dates: early May to May 23
Mods: I cannot crochet to save my life. The pattern calls for the eyes to be crocheted, and I tried and I tried, but I couldn't get it. So i made some i-cord and curled it up, stitched it together, and voila! Eyes!

Thoughts: Waaaaaaaayyyy too many pieces. And I think I spent more time seaming than I did knitting. But it's awful cute!

  2. It is very very cute!! I bet if you wanted to knit another one, you could figure out how to knit it in less pieces. :)

  3. It IS very cute. It really seems like most toy patterns involve a crazy amount of finishing.

  5. Your birdie (I am tempted to call it a chicken -- would that bother you?) is adorable! Your i-cord eyes couldn't be better! I have wondered if folks who design knitted toys just knit a bunch of pieces and THEN figure out what they'll make with them. . .

  6. Darling birdie! However, I am sooooo not interested in having to do so much seaming. Debbie Bliss toy patterns are kind of bad about that too. If I wanted to sew, I'd sew, but I want to knit:)
