In which Cocoa takes up knitting

My suspicions that Cocoa had been reading Chaos while I've been at work have been confirmed. One morning this week, while I sat next to her, she discovered an empty knitting needle.

Hmmm, I wonder what mom uses this for?

Is it alive?

If I could just pick it up - damn my lack of opposable thumbs!

Perhaps mom won't notice that it's missing if I just sit on it for a while and then I can carry it off when she's not paying attention.

She did try to carry it off, but I didn't get a picture of that. Maybe next time. I think her lack of opposable thumbs will make it difficult for her to learn to knit, but I'm sure stranger things have happened.

  1. Oh oh, watch carefully for spontaneous thumb mutations!

She's such a cutie. :) Chaos sends her licks and purrs.

  2. If she doesn't figure out how to knit, you can be sure that it's because she decided that it's beneath her. That's just the way cats are. ;)

  3. ah, the all-important opposable thumb! I like how she's pretending to ignore the needle in the last picture.

  4. What is it about cats and knitting? They love the needles. Mine usually love to sit right on my pattern or even better right on top of the yarn (and they swat it every time I tug).

  5. I wonder if there's ever been a polydactyl cat with opposable toes?

  6. Jackson seems to find the needle most interesting while I'm knitting, then sits on the yarn

  8. Hehe - I knew a cat named 'Mittens' who had nearly opposable toes on his front feet (hence his name) -- but the most he ever learned to do was occasionally get a difficult door or drawer open!

Great pictures ;o) I'm sure there would have been an extensive damage/taste test on your needle if you hadn't caught her :o)
