I was the lucky recipient of two packages on Monday. Yay for yarn in the mail!
The first is a delightful "thank you" gift from Jill for participating in her "You Knit Too Much" Contest, which I was woefully bad at. Thank you Jill! I love that it is a little bit sparkly!

And I received my birthday gift from Grandma, well, from Grandma's money! :) The lovely ladies at KPixie whipped this into the mail. Five skeins of Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton in Espresso for Licorice Whip. Yum. And enough Bartlett yarn to make Demi from Rowan Vintage Style. Mmmm. Wool.

I also purchased some yarn at the LYS last week on knitting night. Some yummy green Ella Rae to make the green hoodie from Knitscene, and a ball of Trekking (and a new set of sock needles!), because apparently I cannot leave the store without Trekking. At least, that's what the hubbo says.
Sadly, it is way too freaking hot to even consider knitting with wool yet. It is still over 100 degrees every day. We're over halfway to the record (69 days set in 1980), but we may cool down. Here's what the local weather says: HEAT ADVISORY until at least 7pm Friday. Partly cloudy and very warm Thursday night. Low 80. Afternoon heat indices will likely be 100 or higher both Friday and Saturday afternoons. Shower and t-storm chances return to the forecast Saturday night through Tuesday. Thursday was the 40th day this year with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher. This moves 2006 into a 7th place tie with 1951 in years with most 100 degree days. Sixth place currently belongs to 1952 with 44 such days. We should reach 42 100 degree days by Saturday. But after that temperatures should say below 100 for the forseeable future.
Please God, let it cool down. We had near 100 degree days in October last year. Yech. I'm so sick of y'all discussing how it's "cooling down," or "too cold to leave the windows open at night," or that you're "feeling fall in the air." I'm feeling Heat Advisories and upset children who can't go to recess. So really, keep it to yourself unless you have some to share. Really.
