Eye Candy Friday (and a contest!)

It's been too long since we've had any good eye candy. How 'bout some yarn porn?

The Knittery Merino Cashmere, Yarntini, and Gypsy Knits, all from The Loopy Ewe. I may have to buy some new sock needles to take advantage of this goodness!

And what's that I spy they're laying on?

Could it be a countertop?

But what kind of countertop is it? (And if you already know, please don't ruin it for everyone else!)

Submit your guesses by midnight CDT on Monday August 6. If more than one person guesses the correct answer, I'll draw a name. What do you win? Dishcloth cotton, of course!

  1. I know nothing about remodeling so I can't even really guess. How about granite?

But more importantly... Did you get the DRT box today??? Not that I'm anxious or competitive or anything. ;)

  2. I, too, think it looks like concrete (I read a home improvement magazine recently, which is the closest I've been to renovations in about ten years, so my guess might be way off).

Another vote for concrete. Or is it slate? Nah, I'll stick with concrete.

I'm going with Soapstone.... at least that's what you should have used if you didn't! :) Looks like things are moving along a bit! That's great!

It's kind of a fuzzy picture, but I'll go with concrete like everyone else.

I am going to go out on a limb and say laminate. They have such great patterns now.

  13. I'm guessing a solid surface countertop.

  14. Is it concrete? I love what they're doin' with concrete these days. There's a Parade of Homes coming up in my area -- I haven't been to one in years, but I'm itching to go this year, just to see "what's new."

  16. Myt guess is not original but the pic with the yarn skeins is what tipped me off....CONCRETE!!! We built our home as i was growing up and were pretty poor (smile) so we would improvise when we could. This was before it was cool to use concrete in the kitchen!I love the look and how it wears, enjoy! (giggle: so did i win?)

i'm goign to guess that it's some of that recycled paper countertop.

  19. I agree it has a quartz look to it, but that could be a pattern in a laminate.

My first instinct was gypsum - but that apparently is used in drywall... *quirks an eyebrow* not sure why I thought that.

I'm going to be real original and say low glossed concrete (vs you know, highly polished)

  23. I must've misunderstood the question because I was thinkin' "kitchen counter".

  24. I'm guessing concrete too...those little bubbles. I've thought about this, but we've always lived in old houses that need so much other work (or rented), and now we have wood counters...which are nice too!

  25. I also think it is concrete. I read somewhere else about a concrete countertop recently.
