Finally! A F'd O!

The moment you've all been waiting for......proof that I still knit!

Pattern: One Skein Wonder by Glampyre
Yarn: Rowan Calmer - a bit less than one skein
Needles: Sz 10 Clover Bamboo Circs and sz 6 (?) for ribbing.
Dates: Sunday August 13-Thursday August 17.
Mods: My gauge was way off.
Thoughts: Hm. First, I cannot get gauge with Calmer to save my life. Do you hear me people? This is why I still don't have my NBAT even though I have the yarn for it, stashed and ready. Second, I bound off a bit too tightly on the arms. It doesn't bother me, but if I made one again I go up even more than a size 10 for the bindoff.
Finally, this really bugs me:

I made this to add to my wardrobe, as we are not allowed to wear sleeveless tops to work (do they know it's Texas? I'm not asking to wear spaghetti straps here people!), so I needed something to cover up my shoulders, not be too hot, survive the copious amounts of sweat inflicted upon it at dismissal and recess (if we ever HAVE recess), and to be, well, cute! But this big gappage between the "wonder" and the top makes Jenn an irritated girl.

Still, it's cute. I'm sure I'll wear it sometime. Just not with what I intended. Perhaps I'll dig out last year's bolero and see how that looks. Hmmmm....

My first F'd O for the week! How are y'alls coming? I've got at least one more lined up for this week, with two more (maybe three if I don't go to work) looking good. Must go knit faster!

  1. Job well done! I've knit two of those so far. They knit up quick and look so good but I'm singing to the choir are'nt I.

It's nice to see what someone else can do with the same pattern

  2. i made an OSW last summer and i too am annoyed by the gappage. i have thought about making a bigger one to see if that helps. or just trying the anthropologie capelet instead.

  3. It came out really cute . . . but yeah, that gap is so disappointing, huh? Otherwise it would seem like the perfect solution for work. I'm knitting hard on my first Koigu sock and will have that done this week (but maybe not the second, we'll see). I think I can also knit my second Mystery Sock and a One Skein Cupcake for Pea's b-day on Friday. I'm gonna try really hard to finish Picovoli too, we'll have to see how much knitting time I end up having.

  4. I think it's cute and I love the color. I see what you mean about the gap. I made one size larger and it does take care of some of it.

  5. It turned out great! Hmm, maybe a small shoulder shawl would do the trick?

  6. Cute!! That's such a great pattern. Sounds like you needed it with that crappy dress code!

  7. You are flying this week! How's work going? (Other than the no recess thing?)

    Your OSW turned out nicely.

I finished a pair of socks that had been suffering from a bad case of second sock syndrome. No excuse either since they were toddler socks in chunky yarn. One O has been F'd. Thanks for the challenge.
